Africana Research Center lecture: Dr. Kidane Mengisteab

The Penn State Africana Research Center will be hosting Dr. Kidane Mengisteab, professor of African studies and political science and SIA affiliate faculty member, for a talk entitled, "Critical Review of the Gender Gap in the Countries of the Greater Horn of Africa," on Wednesday, October 3, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in 217 Willard. Mengisteab’s research includes the relevance of "traditional" institutions in Africa’s governance; the socioeconomic implications of the expansion of extractive industries and commercial farming in Africa; and alternative approaches to democratization in the African continent.
